Make ahead freezer smoothies

Smoothies are a delicious way to get your daily servings of fruits and even a few veggies in one simple drink. With a little prep time you can make your smoothie the night before, then simply pour and blend in the morning for a quick and healthy breakfast.

We are using our Mr. Lid Premium 4 cup containers today but you could also use our Mr. Lid Premium 2 cup containers to store the frozen ingredients we prep ahead for each smoothie. Our Mr. Lid containers are great because they snap closed to keep food fresh, they are freezer safe, and they have stacking grooves that make it easy to stack and store them in the freezer. Our containers are reusable so no more single use plastic sandwich bags!


The three smoothie recipes we are sharing today are: Tropical - my personal favourite, Blueberr and Green. Start by filling your Mr. Lid container with the frozen fruit, banana and/or spinach, depending on your recipe. Once filled, close and stack your containers in the freezer. Its as simple as that. 

Blueberry Banana: 1 cup frozen blueberries, 1 banana, 1/2 cup greek yogurt and 1/2 cup milk.

Tropical: 1 cup frozen pineapple, 1 cup frozen strawberries, 1 banana and 1/2 cup greek yogurt and 1/2 cup milk.

Green: 1 cup spinach, 1 banana, 1 cup mango, 1 cup strawberries, 1/2 cup greek yogurt, 1/2 cup milk.

By using frozen fruit in your smoothie, instead of fresh, you don't need to add any additional ice to get it cold. This keeps your smoothie from getting watered down as it melts.

When you are ready to make your smoothie, pull out your Mr. Lid filled with your pre-made smoothie ingredients from the freezer and pop directly into your blender. Add the milk and yoghurt to the blender and blend. Depending on how you like your smoothie you can add more milk or less milk to change the consistency.
